The Burrell Collection

Chinese New Year activities were good. Maybe could have had a bit more for children. Such a shame they spent 3 years refurbishing yet didn't make the restaurant large enough.

Great museum, that I've been meaning to visit for years. It's free to visit, and is in an excellent location in the country Park. The building is spacious with lots of natural light.

Recently refurbished building. Free entry. Great exhibition of various stuff, old buts, ancient bits, swords and armour. This wealthy collector donated all his stuff to the city. And the collection was pretty huge. Good cafe too. Recommended or maybe even a must see

Great setting for the building which looks fabulous. The exhibits were to me average and were very eccentric as befitting a private collection given to the city, but to me there was no flow

The Burrell collection is a lovely place to visit, child friendly with interactive points throughout. The parking costs can be a bit high if you are there for a few hours. We used to visit the park every week, walk round the park on the paths and through the gardens, which was lovely for the children. Since the park has become restricted we have had to go elsewhere which is disappointing.

Off the beaten track, and well worth the visit. Try to get one of the free tours [check website or ask at front desk]. It really helps to understand the history and importance of the collection.

The Burrell Collection , sitting quietly in the middle of the picturesque Pollock Country Park is a MUST visit for everyone. William Burrell's collectibles from across the globe may have been a source of self education/ self pride once for him, but are now a source of education and enlightenment for the many visitors who attend on a daily basis. From the ancient Egyptian, Assyrian, Persian, Orient to the Northern Nordic hemisphere, there are scores of items to be appreciated, be it sculptures, carpets, paintings or furniture. There are staircases and lifts installed, two cafes and some excellent variety of food choices. For someone not from the area, it's become one of my favored spots to visit when in and around Glasgow.

Saw a medieval knight being dressed in armour to accompany a book launch on armour and weapons in the collection. Intriguing. Wish the main cafe stayed open later
